IIT Kharagpur

IIT opened its gates in 1950 at Kharagpur and first convocation was attended by Jawaharlal Nehru. IIT Kharagpur was the result of the recommendations of the Sarkar Committee given in 1950. On September 15^th, the Parliament has declared the autonomy to the institute. There were a total of 224 Freshers, and teachers were 42 in number, when the first session was started. The institute is spread over 2100 acre land with lush campus. The institute is under consistent progress with 18 academic departments with lush green campus with over 1500 inhabitants. Presently, the institute has 550 faculty, 1700 employees and 9000 students. The institute works in collaboration with some of the world’s renowned universities. It has signed various MoU’s with many international universities all over the world. The location of the institute has its own uniqueness. Kharagpur is well connected by the air and railways both. The weather conditions are also suitable, easy to acclimatize and to adjust for anyone. There is the availability of all the basic requirements within the campus, such as banks, facility of accommodation, libraries and research facilities, etc.. The campus has a state-of-the-art infrastructure. There are many recreational places around the campus and places to visit. These places include the Nehru Museum, HijliShahidBhavan, Old Prison Cells, and Martyrs Memorial. The institute has the long list of eminent alumni with Sunder Pichai being the latest entry into it.

IIT Mandi

In the list of the various branches of institute across the country, IITat Mandi, is the new one to be added in it. IITMandi was declared under the Parliamentary Act in 2008. After declaration, it was established in 2009. The main Campus is located in Kamand. A transit campus of IITMandi, called Mandi Campus, is also managed in the premises of the Vallabh Degree College in Mandi. Mandi is located at a distance of around 475 km from Delhi and around 200 km from Chandigarh on the Delhi-Manali route. The academic facilities include a library and well equipped laboratories of all the branches of engineering. There are many facilities presents within the campus, such as sports and medical. The campus has the hostel facilities within the campus. Like the rest of the other branches of IIT, this branch also has the state-of-art infrastructure and excellent quality of education is being delivered. As it’s been very few years since the institute was established, it has to go a long way to establish ad achieve heights.
