Imortance of sports in life

In our fast-paced lives, the importance of playing games cannot be denied. But unfortunately, we live in an age where technology has overpowered everything. The cell phones, I-pad, and video games have totally shunned the interest and time among children for the outdoor sports. But sports are something that must be an integral part of a student’s life because not just of the physical benefits it has, but a lot more reasons. Read on to them.

Energy and building – The good old saying that, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” holds true for all the children. More so because of the pressure that the academics have created for the children in schools. Their hectic schedule, though, leaves children with less time, so do make a point to use that time for the outdoor sports rather than the addictive games on the cell phones. Hence, games and sports are an integral part of the curriculum at the I Play I Learn preschool. Sports will not only improve the immune system, but also will help channelize the mental and physical energy and will help children rejuvenate their bodies.

Mental Strength- As your child is in the growing stage, scoring grades will not help him much as teaching certain lessons for life will. These lessons are best taught by sports. It teaches an individual how winning and losing is a part of the game and the same goes in life. Thus, it makes him/her mentally stronger to take on the challenges in life ahead.

Competition Factor- Sports also help in teaching the value of a healthy competition in life. As your child indulges in academics and is bound to be in the race for grades, sports introduces to the fair, healthy and a positive kind of competition. It will eventually help in teaching them to what extent the competition is healthy and how not to be negatively influenced by it.

Patience- It is one of the toughest skills for any child to ingrain in life. Sports teach you how to be patient and the importance of persistence. Apart from this, it also makes the child more disciplined, which will also help him/her in academics.
Value of time- “Time is money”, no one knows this better than a sports person who lose their medal by half of a second. As most of the games are time-bound, it is all about the timing. So, while playing his/her favorite sport, your child will automatically learn what the real value of time is.

Psychological High- Apart from the physical effect, the game has a greater effect in shaping up the psyche of a child. Be it putting his excellent shot, the excitement running of it or losing, both have an equal effect. The bad mood of an individual cheer up in a moment when he/she gets applauded for his best performance. That smile is long-lasting.

Other qualities- various other qualities like decision-making, confidence building, team spirit, constructive use of time, tackling pressure, dealing with hardships and many others are best taught by playing sports.

The school plays the major role in encouraging the students to play. Hence, the sports form an integral part of the Icon International School education for every child. It is rightly said that the education is incomplete without the games. After all, it keeps up the excitement and fresh element in the lives of students. Apart from the responsibility of the schools, it is also the responsibility of parents to keep their child engaged in outdoor sports and make them utilize their time in the best way.

The physical, emotional and mental strength provided by sports is what makes an individual stronger in the walk of life.

Importance of being Self-Reliant

Education is itself a blossoming field and all of us were given the best education for the best of whatever our parents could afford, but have you wondered why even after holding so many degrees, many of us struggle in the real market? Does our school and higher education are seriously lacking something? In my view, they are.

Education is not what we read in books, but it is more of what teaches the ethics and lessons that can be used in the future at challenging times. For instance, at I Play I Learn School that is located in East Patel Nagar, it is not about grasping and mugging up the facts, rather about understanding the concepts to the level that one can successfully apply them in real life. Simply cramming the things does not make any sense in the long run, it may fetch you the highest marks, but it will surely not put you on a high pedestal in the real world unless you know how to use them for the best. That is exactly where our present education system lacks. The dimension of ‘practicality’ is not there, though the theoretical one is strong enough in its roots.

As a parent, it is your utmost priority that you decide and teach your child the way they should be educated to ensure that whatever struggles you faced in that one phase all at once, your child won’t. The obstacles will still come in the future, but then your child would be equipped to face and solve the issues independently without feeling helpless.

To make your child self-reliant, you must start early as it cannot happen overnight. At Icon International School, to begin with, you can start as early as your child reaches the age of 7 years, start teaching them to manage their study time on their own. And as a result, gradually he/she will learn it so well that you will not have to worry what and when to teach, instead they would remind you the things. Their self-reliance will increase while their dependence on you will lessen.

The next crucial step is needed to be taken when he is in the senior secondary level. Instead of relying completely on the school curriculum or cramming the things just the way the teacher has asked him to, tell him how important it is for him to understand the concepts on his own and then take the required help. He needs to do his bit and we will now discuss how this can be done.

All of us are well aware of the tech-savvy Gen X, in fact, they are so good at Internet surfing, then why not use it for the matter of education? For instance, your child is not so good at history, instead of simply cramming the dates and events, teach him first that history is not only about the events, but it is about the ‘change and continuity’. He will see it not as a story or a baggage of dates, but start conceptualizing as to why a certain event happened? What led to it? Further, it can be made more interesting by watching the videos of the historical events which are at times funny, rhyming but surely will help him in memorizing the sequence of events quite easily.

The Education revolution in India

Do you remember your preschool days? Seriously, do you? I won’t blame you if you reply back that there was a dearth of preschool education. The concept of preschool education in India is quite new, and one which hasn’t been heard off till a few years back. The roots of preschool education can be traced back to Maria Montessori and Frederich Froebel, the two founding fathers of preschool education around the world. Moreover, they have invested a tremendous amount of energy and effort in the overall development of the toddlers.

In the recent years, India has seen a tremendous growth. The Education system has got a major boost and a lot of money has been invested in the development of facilities all around the country. Also, this has led to the massive development of the other facilities, which have amounted to such positive display at the global stage. If we talk specifically about the Delhi-NCR region, this area has seen a lot of traction in the recent years. For instance, Icon International School, has performed to the maximum and exceeded the overall benchmark figures. It is one of the schools that have shown a tremendous potential, both in terms of facilities and expertise of faculty.

The dearth of quality education centers for kids has been yet another massive challenge faced by these institutes. However, with presence of schools like the Juniors Lab Play School among many others, the education market looks more robust and confidence generating. This has also contributed to the positive outlook of India’s education market to world outside the domain. Schools have started shortlisting various modules and have implemented incremental changes to the curriculum, thus, affecting a positive change. The preschool entrance test was hard to fathom, but now one could easily associate to this concept.

School facilities, localities, and surroundings are not just the primary parameters of the development. Our global dimensions have grown beyond the dimensions of this concept. Now, parents lay proper huge effort and consideration on the various limitations posed by such higher as well as primary education centers. Yet, I won’t blame you for your failure to associate India with such progress and positivity. Yes, still a lot has to be achieved. But these baby steps towards positivity and development are both important and ensuring. Also, a huge amount of credit has to be given to higher educational centers and primary centers. They have left no stone unturned to ensure growth and development of India in the educational field. This global outlook towards the country is very positive.

Ultimately, these preschools are the cornerstone of a child’s academic and holistic development. They ensure that each child receives the best and most trusting education. Primary education and its role in the overall development of the child cannot be neglected. Lately, parents have also realized this important and crucial concept. Preschool is a child’s first interaction point with the world outside their homes. Hence, a lot of research coupled with a due amount of consideration should be given to ensure their complete academic development.
