Which college to choose after school?

What exactly forms the basis of us choosing what to do after we are done with our Class 12th boards? Is it wholly marks? Or is it passion? Or is it the persona we carry that is suitable for a particular field? In today’s time, as a student, you’re judged on the basis of your marks. What about extra-curricular activities? Why aren’t they given equal importance as studies? A girl interested in music is told by her parents to concentrate only on studies, a boy having his interest in cricket is denied of coaching so as to concentrate on studies. Scored less than 80% In your 12th? And you’re shunned. The added pressure of scoring well and getting wished in the society only worsens the pressure. Does the world, just drops off if someone is unable to score 90% or let’s say 80%? What exactly is the life after?
Career options aren’t just confined to those who are brainy. Fields such as photography, fashion, sports, hospitality all recruit on the basis of personality or passion. There are many top colleges in India that offer multiple career options to students to choose from. It is the desire of performing that takes the credits here. If you haven’t scored well, don’t let that get on to you so much that you lose the zest and enthusiasm to perform anything further in life, life just doesn’t stop here, it has only begun..

Performing well in the chosen field is all that matters in life. Working hard and with passion for what we do. Thinking of any field as pressure and with performing with strain will only make it even more difficult for us. Fields that haven’t been explored should be considered. So many offbeat courses are provided by many institutions. Some of the common, offbeat courses include Photography, Fashion, HR, Acting, Journalism, Event management, Aviation, Dancing, and Entrepreneurship.

There is no dearth of options available. For instance, IIT Delhi, one of the premier educational institute in India, offers a plethora of courses to choose from. It is the zeal of performance that takes us forward in life. Only three things are required for pursuing them

v  Passion & Interest
v  Skill
v  Confidence

Not in the knowledge of many, but there are universities and colleges that take up on the basis of entrance examinations and your then your rank as per the result. Little R&D is all that it takes, after all it is about our own future's sake. Many known celebrities are school dropouts, dyslexic or not even graduates. Engineering, doctorate, law is what all our doing. One shouldn’t always be in the crowd. Till 12th we are taught subjects not of our choice. But after 12th it is the time to choose what we aspire to be, what we really want to study, what excites us, what catches our eye and mind. It is the time to make the correct choice, our whole career depends on this choice. One must not choose just because they are told so or wanted to, it is us who has to pursue. Well, there’s and always will be some room for discussion with parents.

The Importance of Long Term Planning for Students

Do you have dreams? We all have dreams, and to achieve them, we need to keep our dreams in written form and have a focus to achieve them. This focus comes from the hard work and the steps we manage to follow. This includes writing down all the steps to achieve a goal. If we don’t do this our dreams will never be fulfilled and will only remain dreams. What is important is that you have clarity about what you want to achieve as your goal.

While most people start penning down their dreams, however, the problems that many face is the lack of resources. For instance, if you aim to study in one of the best colleges in India or abroad, your primary step should be zero in to the institute and then go for it.

Yes, there will be instances when it will seem like you have hit the wall. It may be lack of money, time, number, or any other resource. This realization may occur when you feel that the resources you posses are not enough to fulfill your dreams. The key solution to this problem is Long Term Planning. For best results it is important to apply a plan properly. Yet, for an individual planning to study in one of the best college in India, no wall is unconquerable. All you need is a strong will and a positive attitude of life.

Short-term plans should be written in the time span of 2 weeks. It should not be written more than 2 weeks before, otherwise the intensity to reach that goal will decrease and your interest will fall off slowly. For example-If you planned to start a new business in 2 months you may end up disappointed then stop trying while if you planned to do it in a year, then you would have found that you achieved your goal in less than the time limit you specified. One of the major benefits of long term planning is that it enables you to totally pay off for lack of resources and even achieve better than people who had those resources but didn’t make a tactical plan.

Another advantage of long term planning over short term planning is that the outcome is much more controllable on a longer term than it is on the short term. Your goal may be seeking admission in a top college, but you may fail a few times and waste a few months before you can actually succeed in doing it.You can record and present your long term plan in a variety of ways like grid form or continuous form. The method you choose may vary from individual to individual and may vary depending on the subject of the plan.Long-term plans can help you make your daily life decisions about your career and also your professional life. Long term planning also helps you stay focused and on track. It helps you determine the steps you need to follow and achieve your desired goals by preparing a particular timetable. Long-term plans can help you achieve your professional, educational as well as personal goals. It can also help you achieve financial stability and security. Ultimately, long or short, it all boils down to the efficacy of that plan.

There are many situations regarding education in our lives where we get stuck at times. And it is very important that we realise the importance and impacts of every situation and choice we have and make certain decisions in a wise manner. Here, we will be focussing upon the importance, future prospects and the advantage of doing an MBA.

To discuss further upon this, we need to know what an MBA actually stands for. The Master of Business Administration is a master's degree in business administration and business management which covers a scientific approach to management. The main areas covered under an MBA program are basically accounting, finance, marketing, human resources and operations in a manner which are most relevant to management analysis and strategy.

And so we may proceed further as we now have a basic idea about what an MBA is. The simple question which arises is, how will an MBA benefit our career as well as our lives?
Established MBA courses offered by various business schools help in preparing students to undertake senior management roles and responsibilities in the business environment. And this task is achieved effectively by giving a proper exposure to the aspirants regarding all areas of business including accounting, finance, marketing, and human resources. Unlike many other Master’s Degree programmes which provide us with further specialization in a specific field of study, an MBA draws principles from various fields of psychology, sociology, economics, accounting and finance.

Pursuing an MBA course from some of the best colleges in India, increases the aspects of a good impact on the salary later on. And someone who did pursue one, is likely to land a job with quite an impressing pay package. And therefore if it’s a matter of money and something everyone’s after, an MBA may well be worth striving for.

Many Indian Colleges like the IIM Bangalore, Faculty of Management Studies, and Xavier School of Management provide the course and the proper kind of b-school exposure and environment. Apart from expanding our horizons by exposing us to successful leaders. As we very well know the expanding amount of successful management honchos who love to visit business schools and give guest lectures. These lectures, in a way, are a great and very essential way for us in gathering to insights and useful advices from people who matter in the business world, who’ve already done what you want to pursue in future. It is also the advantage of putting up questions directly.

And coming back to the area of experts, we have a great opportunity to build a good rapport and a relationship with our professors, which play a major role in guiding us in our career quest, because, as they get to us with time and experience, they can offer some very vital suggestions and points which might help in some way or the other in our career.Though a degree from, say, IIM Bangalore may be something to boast about. But one must remember, that this sole degree certification in your resume does not guarantee you a job.

Nor should we be expecting an automatic salary increase or promotion on such grounds. It is hard work after all, which pays in the end, and a prestigious degree like an MBA adds up to the efforts, if any.

How to decide between career opportunities after 12th: A brief reference

Good quality education is a common desire for all students. That’s what students ultimately aim for. When school is done, there is a burning desire to attend best possible college. College life, is utterly diverse than school. There is emotion, excitement and even anxiety regarding which college to choose and what is the exact criteria to be kept in mind. Concerned parents and peer pressure only adds up to the anxiety.

Teaching in India is an exclusive and personal affair. Students must choose a college that is perfect for them, which converges on complete development, one that prepares and makes us ready for all ups and downs of life. Prior to putting your hands to a particular college there are certain criteria’s one must go through and gain ample knowledge before you settle and find a closure. Browse the portal; communicate with the senior students and faculty. In fact all queries on courses and prospects must be well answered with proper emphasis on learning the trade. There is dearth of career opportunities after 12th, we just need to keep certain important factors in mind:

1.       AIM/INTEREST

The most imperative factor and the real oxygen to the process is our interest.  Where we want to be? Where do we look at ourselves if we dream of working and earning? The very basic thought of taking admission comes down to our aim in life and our interests. Lacking interest in what we do not aspire to pursue would only make our graph move down than rather soar.

2.       MARKS/QUALIFYING ELIGIBILITY

Every institute has a particular system of enrolling candidates. Few conduct an entrance exam whereas the rest allow you on basis of your class XII board percentage. Choose a college that serves your purpose. One must have a clear cut picture as to what college we could get on the basis of our marks.

3.       CURRICULUM

Some colleges intend to add few additional courses with the course opted by the student. While some institutes might not give the students the privilege to opt for their choice of course, some institutes do offer the choice individually. For eg. In a particular college a language course had to be opted for. Innovative curriculum can help you stay ahead of the curve.

4.       PLACEMENT OPTIONS

Students must ensure that the college provides for a good placement options that ensures a sound life after college. Good placement and huge companies that soak in students from the college proves that the degree of that particular college instills value. It depends upon personal caliber, still not a bad way to judge a college. You need to inquire about the top colleges in India to see what they offer in detail. Good colleges usually end up with better placements.

5.       PARENTS CONSENT

Decisions that influence your future life, must be discussed with your parents. Being your elders they would always have the best interest in mind. Parents only want the best for their kids.

6.       LOCATION/FACILITIES

College should provide students with basic facility of clean drinking water, hygienic toilets, well equipped classrooms and labs and of course amazing faculty.

7.       EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The College shouldn’t only focus on academics but should play a role in building the entire personality of the student. Sports and other activities must not be ignored and should be given their due by every college.

Choosing the most appropriate college isn’t an easy task. A lot of research ought to be conducted to ensure what is suitable for us. These are some of the brief ideas that we need to go over before considering admission. At times the decisions may go haywire, and annoy us leading to more confusion, but the student must not lose hope and aim for the best. College is just another provider it is the learner who has to soak in what is to be offered.
